Q&A About Nintendo's CSR

Community Relations

In addition to those mentioned in the “Social Contributions” section, what other kinds of community support/activities does Nintendo engage in?

Nintendo supports numerous charitable organizations and educational institutions, and proactively contributes to various special projects that support children.

In 2023 and 2024, Nintendo of America sponsored a variety of events in which the Human Resources Wellness Team collaborated with some of the Employee Resource Groups (ERG) and the Nintendo Cares Team to focus efforts on constituents who align with the communities represented by our ERGs. For example, Human Resources partnered with eNable, one of our ERGs, to participate in the All in for Autism 5K Walk/Run, an event to raise awareness and support children and families affected by autism spectrum disorder.

Nintendo of Europe (Germany) provides Nintendo Switch systems and game software to a variety of schools, healthcare facilities, libraries and educational programs. FY 2024 initiatives included teaming up with a local youth center that offers various activities and sports courses to financially underprivileged children to continue a workshop where participants could try out Ring Fit Adventure. Nintendo of Europe (Germany) also continued its collaboration with a summer camp that teaches children about exercise and nutrition, supporting the camp with a donation of Nintendo Switch systems.

In FY 2024, Nintendo Ibérica (Spain) donated more than 120 refurbished Nintendo Switch systems to a non-profit organization that works to bring smiles through gaming to children hospitalized for cancer treatment. The systems were given to children returning home from the hospital to encourage their further recovery.

During FY 2023, Nintendo of Europe (Benelux) loaned Nintendo Switch hardware and copies of Game Builder Garage to a Belgian organization that supports socially vulnerable youth in experiencing a range of careers and skills. This organization used Game Builder Garage to organize a workshop called “Technology and Innovation” in October 2022, in which attendees could learn how to program. Nintendo Switch systems, Joy-Con controllers and game software were also provided to a foundation, where they were used to offer gaming enjoyment to children who have a physical disability or non-congenital brain injury.
