As this is not a title published by Nintendo, we do not have our own weekly sales data.  Accordingly, we look at the data in Europe where we can tally the weekly sales data disclosed by independent research companies to see the game's sales transitions in Europe.  The red line in the graph, which represents the first title, shows that this title has been selling at a steady pace, almost regardless of the season, and the sales again rose in the year-end sales season of last year.
In contrast, the sales of the sequel, which is represented by the black line, have been explosive and the sales pace is so rapid that it will surpass the original in the near future.  The great hit of this software has caused a new dance-game movement overseas.
In the U.S. and Europe, there were multiple other hit Wii titles from third-party publishers during the year-end sales season.

And, as for Nintendo DS software, the software known as "Egokoro Kyoshitsu DS" in Japan and is called "Art Academy" overseas, asks you to pretend that your Nintendo DS is a canvas, and encourages you to draw authentic pictures.  This software has already shipped more than 1.5 million units globally.

As you can see, the sales transition of this software in Europe is very unique.  Among the European hit charts that I just showed you, it was present in only the Spanish chart, but this software was a big hit across Europe at the year-end.
This software has been well-received by art experts, and is being used by various museums in Europe, including the Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum in Spain, to teach art classes.
Such new ways to use video games actively will be much talked about and will activate the market.  We therefore would like to define video games as widely as possible and propose new ideas.

I have explained how we finished the 2010 year-end sales season.  And now, as the launch of Nintendo 3DS is just around the corner, I’d like to spend some time to discuss our developments for Nintendo DS and Wii.

First, about Nintendo DS: "Pokémon Black" & "Pokémon White", which was launched in Japan in September last year and which has become the fastest selling software to reach five million units in sales and was the best-selling software in 2010 in this country, will be launched on March 6 this year in the U.S. and on March 4 in Europe.
Pokémon has become entertainment which is enjoyed by people all around the world, and we will make efforts to maximize the sales potential of "Pokémon Black" & "Pokémon White" by sufficiently conveying the essence of the joy of this game which is full of fun.

We are also scheduled to launch a new game called “Battle & Get! Pokémon Typing DS” (Japanese title) in April.  This touch-typing practice software features Pokémon, the aim of which is that our children will be able to touch-type without realizing it, just by enjoying playing the software.

However, this software is not aiming to appeal only to children.  The developers have made it so that even adults who have mastered typing to some extent will find it challenging.  I recently received an email from Mr. Ishihara, president of The Pokémon Company, which reads, “I thought I was not that bad when it came to typing, but I’m now deeply into this software as I cannot get a high score.  I’m glad to be able to feel that, even at my age, I’m getting a bit better at how I use my little fingers.”

To be included in the software’s package is a keyboard which is compatible with Bluetooth standards.  A Bluetooth communication function is also included in the ROM card, so they wirelessly communicate.
Although Nintendo does not guarantee the connections, the keyboard can be connected with various other devices.  Internally at Nintendo, some are connecting the prototype keyboard with iPhone and Android.  Actually, I’m one of them.  After all, when it comes to the speedy typing of a long sentence, a keyboard has the advantage.
For Pokémon, we are also proceeding ahead with various projects on Wii and Nintendo 3DS. We will announce them later at the appropriate timing.

I'd like to spend time also to discuss Wii in 2011.

Exactly one year ago, in January 2010, we announced "Xenoblade" (Japanese title) that we developed with Mr. Takahashi at MONOLITH SOFTWARE INC. and "The Last Story" (Japanese title) that we developed with Mr. Sakaguchi of MISTWALKER CORPORATION.
"The Last Story" was launched only yesterday, but I have heard that the initial sales are not bad.

One of the Wii titles scheduled to be launched this year is, as you know, “The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword.”  Last year was the 25th anniversary of Super Mario Bros.  This year marks the 25th anniversary of The Legend of Zelda.  For your information, the year 2011 also marks the 15th anniversary of Pokémon and 25th anniversary of Dragon Quest, among others.
Shigeru Miyamoto of Nintendo told me that he had a strong feeling that the new play control realized by Wii MotionPlus, which is now integrated into our Wii Remote as Wii Remote Plus, could significantly expand the comfort of the game play, especially when used in games like "The Legend of Zelda."  His team is now entering into the final completion stage of the game.
Talking about The Legend of Zelda franchise, what people called a masterpiece in the days of Nintendo 64, “The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time” has been in the process of being remade for Nintendo 3DS, and this Nintendo 3DS version is expected to hit the market earlier.

Also for Wii, we are planning to launch a new title called “Pandora’s Tower” (translation of Japanese title).  The development of the software is nearing the end, and we are scheduled to launch this title in the early half of this year.  Please look forward to further news as we will make additional announcements later.

"Rhythm Paradise" is known as a big hit title on Nintendo DS.  Now, we are making a new "Rhythm Paradise" game on Wii.  Let’s take a look at the video.
