This is the sales comparison chart of twenty weeks since their launches.
As for the Japanese market, Wii Sports Resort has not yet reached the result of Wii Fit as Wii Fit launched right in the middle of the holidays. But in the U.S. and Europe, Wii Sports Resort has already sold more and faster than Wii Fit, which did very well.

Still, we also hear concerns that Wii Sports Resort has not driven hardware sales like such much-anticipated titles did in 2008.

This chart shows lifetime hardware sales’ tie ratio of the two hit titles. This ratio is calculated as when a customer registers a software and hardware at the same week on Club Nintendo, it is assumed that the software has driven the hardware purchase.
This tie ratio generally starts at a low level and gradually climbs up. I think I have explained before that the driving effect of software title will not be visible before six or eight weeks from launch. So what about that of Wii Sports Resort? I would like to show data collected at Club Nintendo.

This chart shows the tie ratio of each territory. Even though it might have also been affected by price cut in these three or four weeks, the U.S. and Europe show increases after the eighth week and Japan has recently shown a gradual increase.
Now I would like to compare this chart to Mario Kart Wii, a hit of 2008.

This is the chart.
Even though we can not simply compare them as the hardware installed base has changed, the tie ratio that Wii Sports Resort is recording does not fall short of that of Mario Kart Wii.
For the next comparison, I would like to take the original Wii Fit, which has driven the most hardware sales so far.

And the chart shows the result.
As expected, Wii Fit posted better results immediately after the launch, but Wii Sports Resort’s tie ratio is gradually ascending. On some part, it has even surpassed Wii Fit.
With these results, we have a strong feeling that it has been proceeding as we expected, will keep good sales from now, and will strongly drive hardware sales in the year-end season.

Next I’d like to talk about Wii Fit Plus that was just launched.
It launched in early October in Japan and the U.S.
It will launch today in the European market and thus we do not yet have actual sales data.

This chart shows the current sales transition, only a few weeks after launch.
The Japanese market got off to a better start, as many of the owners of the original Wii Fit purchased the software-only package through announcement utilizing TV advertisements. In Japan, the software-only SKU accounts for nearly 80% of the Japanese sales.
On the other hand, the American market got off to a slower start, as TV advertisements started to air only after the software launch. Software-only SKU accounts for slightly less than 60% in the U.S.
But if we look at the sales of Wii Balance Board bundle SKU, the U.S. is outperforming Japan. So far we have been receiving favorable reactions from customers. We are aiming to drive its sales against the peak of holiday sales season.

So, how about the tie ratio?
Among these sales figures, software-only SKU is, needless to say, purchased by owners of the original Wii Fit, so the hardware tie ratio is nearly null. This chart shows the hardware tie ratio of Wii Balance Board bundle SKU four weeks after launch. You can see that the tie ratio is very high.

Even when we compare it to the original Wii Fit, it still looks high.
I believe we can anticipate it to play a significant role in the holiday season.

Now, let me talk for a bit about Nintendo DS. The Professor Layton series has already established itself as a popular Nintendo DS software. Nintendo was in charge of marketing the very first of the series, "Professor Layton and the Curious Village", in the U.S. and in Europe. The Japanese version is on the top. Lower left is the U.S. version, and the lower right is the European version package. I mentioned at the Financial Results Briefing at the end of July this year that the software had shown an interesting sales trend. Let me update this today.
